| FEED-THE-KIDS MISSION PROJECT: Once again our congregation has the opportunity this summer to serve our own community through the united efforts of the ministerial alliance. As you know, we have been blessed with this opportunity for several years, feeding nearly 1,000 lunches during the week to children who may be missing their school lunches. This year our week to serve is July 12-16. We will need volunteers on the evening of the 11th, and every morning during the week to pack up to 200 lunches a day of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, milk, banana, and a bag of chips. Milk, bread, and fruit must be purchased that week, so we will need some monetary donations, but we also will need donations of peanut butter, jelly, individual bagged chips, fold-over sandwich bags, and small brown paper-bag lunch sacks. We will also need a volunteer who can drive the church van or their own vehicle to help with deliveries, as well as other helpers for distribution each day. Beginning this Sunday, a sign-up sheet for volunteers will be in the narthex. We only have one month to prepare, so please look into your heart and see if you can help in any way with our mission. It is a wonderful experience, and will only take a few hours of your day to help prepare or deliver these meals to hungry children. Remember what Jesus said to Peter, "If you love me, feed my sheep." Please help us feed our Lord's sheep this summer. Thank you for all you do. |
| VBS: Go to Idabel First United Methodist Church VBS Update: I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out with Vacation Bible School this year. We reached out and touched the lives of the children in our community, and brought the VBS experience to a church who hasn't had a Vacation Bible School in many years. The trip to Soper was great. I can say personally I got much more out of it than I put in. It made me realize just how rich our church is in many ways. We met some wonderful kids. If you haven't taken the opportunity to mission to the children in our community, you are really missing out. You never know when a little girl in purple plastic high heel shoes will touch your heart. Thank you, Susie Parsons. Soper VBS Report: Thanks to the eleven volunteers who helped with the Soper VBS mission on Saturday. We were able to share God's love with eight energetic kids. This is a note to the Soper pastor from one of the parents who is the pastor of another church in town: "Thanks for the pictures, the kids had a great time! They were telling us all about it and singing the songs and showing us the motions. Please tell your church and the people that came to help that it was done greatly in my kids eyes! We come from a big city, so this is a great compliment." |
